I also have potatoes sitting in my living room that are ready to be planted. Our tiller string broke so Michael hasn't been able to till the garden area. The potatoes look wonderful so I am hoping they will last just a bit longer until we can get the area tilled. I have left the box in the living room as a constant reminder that we need to get this done. You know the saying, "Out of sight, out of mind." That is a reality here in our home!!!
This is a busy season here on our little farm. If I don't stay on top of things, then I will not be ready for garden season. Our bees are also scheduled to arrive sometime next week. I will NOT be participating with their care. However, I do not mind helping to assemble the frames. That is a nice job that occurs in the safety of our shop without bees flying around my head!!!!!
grace and peace,
julie

Did you lose the hive you had previously or are you adding another hive? Just curious as we have started with bees this spring for the first time and have so much to learn! Our growing season for broccoli is over until the fall but I thought of you just the other day as I took some of my garden broccoli out of the freezer for a meal. It was soooo good compared to the frozen broccoli I buy in the store! I will definitely be planting lots more this fall!!
Pam,
We didn't lose our hives that we already had. Well to be honest we aren't for sure if we lost any hives. He needs to open them up on a WARM sunny day to see what we have. We always order one pack of bees to add to our existing hives. Each year we do usually lose at least one hive. I'll do an update post when he puts the new package of bees in the hive. Brocoli is one of my favorite garden plants...I am glad you enjoyed yours too!!
