Canning Season Coming to a Close

I finished canning the last of the 5 bushels of apples yesterday. I made apple sauce with the remaining apples. I still have a crisper drawer full of apples for fresh eating and baking. I am going to make an Apple Cake or an Apple Pie for a fundraiser at our local high school.

I am hoping to find enough jalapenos to can this afternoon. I think in just a few more days I can move the canner out to the building until next year. I have made a lot of progress this year. I have canned more than I have ever canned before, and it feels great. I am still disappointed in the amount of green beans that I was able to grow and can, but that was the only major set back this garden year. Over the next few days, I am planning on working in our laundry/pantry area. I want to organize it and make it more accessible. There are many tasks at hand that need my attention now that canning season is wrapping up, and I am ready to get a few of them completed. As much as I love gardening and canning, by the end of the season I am usually ready for a break. This year is no different.

grace and peace,
julie

I know I have said it before but I have to say it again, "You are amazing!". I am so impressed with your gardening and canning. (Because you know how I garden...)

I can imagine you are ready for a break! I've had my break down here in Australia and am gearing up to a busy season. I'm realy looking forward to gardening and canning again! And I can look at your past posts to keep me motivated when I get a bit tired :)
