Creature of Habit

I am a creature of habit. I find comfort in routines. I am flexible, but I operate best when things are pretty much the same. I have loved the holidays, but at last, we are back into our schedule once again. Michael has returned to work and the children have all returned to school. I am excited about our home school this next semester. I gave my children the opportunity to pick what they want to learn about in History. They both quickly chose the Civil War. I have lots of great reading material picked out for us to devour.

I find my habits and patterns to bring peace to my everyday world. I flow well when I know what is expected of me and when I know what needs to be accomplished. I used to fight this part of my personality...I wanted to live more on the edge, but now I embrace the way the Lord has made me. I realize that there isn't anything wrong with enjoying the simple daily happenings of life.

grace and peace,
julie

i too operate the same way and i too fought the same battle. i used to be the one that would be the first one on the bandwagon to "just do it and off i would go" but really that wasn't what i was like. i luv the ROUTINE!! just luv how it all flows so much smoother

The Civil War was/is my son's love of life. It is a very BIG subject and can include all sorts of things!!!

Is the above picture current? Are you really having short sleeve weather outside?

Closer,
Running smoothly is a MUST at our house!!

Marci,
I have taught the Civil War to our two older boys so it is our next two's turn. They are looking so forward to it. The picture was taken this summer. Our weather is cool and wet here today. We have had rain for the past several days, and we are so blessed. Our pond is finally coming back up just a bit. The drought has been so severe here the last several years that it has been very challenging. Rain is good!!
Enjoy your day!
grace and peace,
julie

I just love history. History is one of the reasons I had considered homeschooling. I don't think public schools make history very exciting. And it is a subject that can dovetail very nicely into other subjects.

I can be like you too, Julie, and enjoy the routines. But sooner or later I get bored and the whole routine goes out the window. Which is all sort of strange since I'm not a big fan of change.

By the way, I love reading about your life in my favorite part of the country. Your family and farm, all seem very delightful.

This year, I'm going to keep a close eye on your garden posts as I am hoping to by more successful with my own garden.

Take care!

It's so nice to see your smiling face! I am a creature of habit too. I thrive on routine and love being at home.

How exciting to study the civil war? We have a lovely historical military park close by ~ Shiloh. We used to visit it when we lived in Illinois, but now that we're here we take picnics and tours all year long. It becomes so REAL when you can visit historical sites and stand on the very site you're studying.

Wishing you joy and blessings in the coming year,
Lea

I am the same way...I thrive off of my days having order. Now only if my husband would stop trying to change me. :)
