Last night I was finally able to get my first taste of fresh green beans cooked with our red norland potatoes. I remember my grandmother serving this dish. Heavenly. I also went down the road to a local farm and purchased some organic corn. This was the first time this year we had fresh corn on the cob, and we were not disappointed. I made some fried apples and cucumbers and vinegar and we feasted. Only the males of our family complained about the lack of meat, but I didn't care. No, I was in veggie heaven!!!
grace and peace,
julie

70 QUARTS!??!!?! Wow, I am very impressed. I must just have bad experiences with canning--it always seemed to take FOREVER to get everything done. I'm sure you have a system down by now, though!
I keep forgetting how different our growing seasons are. My green beans have been done for a while now. Well the grasshoppers got to them this year so that made them go out sooner I suppose. Never had to deal with grasshoppers before. Next year I know which little worm to look for to "squish" before they take over!Happy Canning!
WOW... there is already ripe sweet corn there??? Our beans are just putting on flowers, but our neighbor has been picking and canning.
Woah, that's a LOT of green beans!...I hear complaints in my household too if there is not meat! My hubby still recalls the Easter dinner 3 years ago that his Grandma served with no meat. It's a bad mark on a meal in his book! I try to enjoy my 'girly' non-meat meals when is out of town!
All that fresh goodness, you are a blessed woman!
