Homemaking Thoughts

Sometimes I feel down right lazy. I JUST cleaned this house yesterday and the day before that and the day before that. I don't WANT to do it again. Obviously is doesn't stay clean very long so what is the point??!! Yes, I have this very conversation in my head on various days... Some days I overcome my feelings and other days I just give into my desires. The funny thing is that when I am motivated by an outside force, I can clean by leaps and bounds. For example, if we are having company I am miss clean bee. I don't even take time to have this conversation in my head. I just get up and get started!

I have often thought about the women of long long ago. The ones who would have lived in the 1700 and 1800's. If they didn't work, their families would have starved or frozen to death. Talk about a motivator!!! I am not wanting to head back to the 1800's. After all, I do enjoy a good cup of java right out of my Bunn coffee maker in a nice warm house. I wonder if the women of those times ever just didn't feel like doing all the work. Did they ever get tired or was being lazy just never an option? I would love to read a real diary with some of their heart felt thoughts in it...perhaps there might be some keys to answer my questions.

I do know that my own house won't clean itself so I must get to it this morning. It is such a nicer place to be when things are in order. Just by cleaning out and organizing the laundry room, I have eliminated stress in my life. While my home doesn't have to meet the criteria of magazine cover, I do enjoy it to be clean and tidy. My family enjoys it much more as well. The moral of the story for me...stop whining and start cleaning!!

grace and peace,
julie

My friend and I literally had a conversation early this morning about that very thing. There was always something for the women "back then" to do...Necessary for survival things.
Since my back surgery/recovery, I am still not able to do all of the things that I want to where my house is concerned. I get the absolutely "necessaries" done, but not all that "should" be done. *sigh*
I am having to learn to stop whining about what I can't do, and be pleased with what I can. I'm a work in progress.

Happy Holidays, Julie!
God Bless,
Amy:)

I totally understand...there are only two of us!...and we are not really messy people!...yet our home has to be picked up every single day.

Julie,

Although we have never meet, and may never meet, I just wanted you to know how wonderful your blog is. It is very inspiring and uplifting. I work full time and long for the day I can stay at home with my daughter, have a clean house, and obtain a healthy vegetable garden. I found your blog when searching for gardening blogs and was thrilled when I learned that you are not too far away. I live in Southern Middle TN and the information I have obtained from your blog has been so helpful. Anyway, I'll stop babbling on now. I just wanted you to know that I look forward to logging on and checking out your blog every morning. Keep it up.

Amy,
Very well said. I too am a work in progress. Some days I hit the mark, and other days I am way off! God's mercies are new every morning!! I pray your back continues the healing process and before you know it this will be all behind you!!

Andrea Cherie,
Just wait until there are little people to add to the process!!! Truth be told our dog is worse than our kids about making the house messy. So I can't complain too much!

Carrie,
I so appreciate your kind words. I was just thinking the last few days about not blogging anymore. I love it dearly, but sometimes I just don't feel like I have anything really worth saying. Your words of encouragement were much needed. Thank you for taking the time to let me know. What part of Middle Tennessee do you all live? There are some beautiful places there. I hope you enjoy your day.

grace and peace,
julie

Don't you dare stop blogging. I'll be heartbroken. :) I live in Winchester a little town on the Alabama border. We have the best of everything, mountains, a lake, farm land, you just couldn't ask for much more. I love to drive through your area though. We try to get to Pigeon Forge every few years for shopping and to drive through Townsend. It is beautiful in East Tennessee.
